Gary's 1970 Plymouth
Back to Our Rides
I purchased this 1970 Plymouth Cuda new in March of 1970 when I was a mechanic at Roger Otto Motors in
Glenwood IA.  I drove it until the mid-1980s and stored it in my dad's barn.  No one would give me anything for a
trade in so I kept it.  For the first few years after storage I drove it a little every summer and then kids sports
started, etc., and for over 23 years it sat unattended.  Finally, somewhere around 2009 Dale Howard and I
pulled it out of the barn and started to just kind of get it running and it turned into a total rotisserie restoration. It
took a long time but it is better than original.
I wanted it back like I had it personalized in 1971 so the wheels and decals are how I had it then.  I still have the
original wheels but they need some TLC.
The engine is a 340, bored 30, mild Howard roller cam, balanced by Kevin Taylor Enterprises, Edelbrock AVS,
Sure Grip, Vintage Air, AM/FM Factory exact radio, new upholstery, headliner, but all the inside panels are
original except kick pads.  BF Goodrich RWL tires.  Brake Power Booster was rebuilt by Booster Dewey, and
That's the bulk of spending my kids’ inheritance.  Oh... and then I had to build a garage to put it in.
